This plant is growing in the edge of my dad's pond. It has bright blue flowers. It has to be a type of aquatic plant because I've only seen them growing in shallow water. Hopefully someone can ID this beautiful plant!!

It looks very similar to the Virginia Dayflower Julie. Commelina Virginica/Spiderwort family but I think the leaves are wrong. Perhaps it's an Asian dayflower which is very similar to your dads too.

Thanks Eileen!! I looked up the ones you suggested and I don't think those are it!! John said someone had told him the name but he can't remember it. Maybe something will jog his memory and he can ID it for us!!I have looked at a lot of photos of native texas aquatic plants and I can't find anything that looks like this plant!! Maybe we'll get it sooner or later!!<sigh>

Well, stupidly, I looked up my wild aquatic plant book for you didn't I? Stupid - why? Well all the plants in it are either British or north European.  I'll try looking on the net for your dads plant and see what I can come up with.

OK here are another two plants that it just might be:
Veronica Beccabunga
or
Myosotis Scorpiodes 'mermaid'
