Angel Wing Begonia, shouldn't it be more "hangy"?

A co-worker gave me some cuttings from her Angel Wing Begonia. I've always loved their leaves and cute flowers, but never tried growing one.
The one's I've always seen are in hanging baskets. But mine is just getting tall.
I know it's ready for a bigger pot, but how do I get it to look/act like the hanging ones and get it to bloom? Do I go ahead and cut it back and stick those pieces back in the pot?
Is the reason it's getting leggy because it's getting too much light?
    Any advice is appreciated.

I think they just do that :-? At least mine does. I try to keep it thick and compact and it gets tall and goes in all directions

All the ones I have are upright and the blooms when they have them are pink.

When they get leggy I cut them back and re-root the cutting. More begonias. That is how I originally received mine. Now I have about 12 and two more rooting in a glass of water.

So, I should put them in a bigger pot and keep topping them off and one day I'll get blooms?
And it doesn't matter that they are in a bright room?

Last year mine sat on an enclosed deck(plenty of indirect light) and it bloomed. No problem. I have a cutting that produced a small bloom this winter. They seem to bloom on a regular basis. I don't do anything special.........well......I talk to them....sometimes......a little.....

Have you talked to your plants lately?

I talk to them all the time. With this one... I've been saying "You know I think your leaves are pretty. But how come you're not a droopy hangy plant like the one's at the nursery? But it's okay if you weren't meant to be droopy... as long as you give me some flowers, please."

Mine blooms a lot. Little, pale pink blooms that kind of remind me of bubbles. They do make a mess  but I'll take any blossom I can get :p The leaves stay greener and healthier looking when they stay out of direct light. I have one in the bathroom that just thrives!

Once I get repotted, I'll find another place for it that doesn't get as much light. Hmmmmm... where could I put it?

Perhaps in the front of the house to the left side of entry door. It looks as if there is enough shade there. Else hubby may have to 'make' shade. :)

Actually the front porch is kinda crowded. I was thinking of switching places with the Peace Lily that's in the dining/kitchen window. It'll get filtered afternoon sun (once the pecan tree puts on it's leaves).
Either that... or I could put it here in the computer room that only gets morning sunlight. :headscratch:

@ Cherylad. I have a Angel Wing begonia in a east window and it was drooping a lot. The branches were 2-3 feet long till I trimmed it. Now it's putting up tons of new branches.
Yours looks almost tall enough to start drooping but the branches need to be a little longer. Good luck. :D

Btw, that pot looks kinda small. It may need more dirt to put out enough roots to get big enough to droop. Mine started growing really fast when I put it in a bigger pot.

I have several of these cane type begonias including the angel wing type one in the photo.Mine grow outside in the ground all year and some are in full halfday sun. They grow up to 6ft if you let them.
If this plant was mine, I know that it cant grow outside all year at your place...but I would put it in a bigger pot and find a stake of the height which you want it to be, tie it firmly to the stake.Mine seem to like being tied up.
Remember the flowers hang down[that's what we like about them]and they will need height to do that.
I reckon when it gets to about 4ft it will flower,if possible getting morning sun.
4ft is a good show off height.
Most flowers need some sun to flower.
That plant is looking healthy, just needs a'tie up'
I usually choose the strongest stem and concentrate on that one keeping it tied and straight, let the leaves and flowers take care of themselves, when it flowers the blooms can become quite heavy.

Thanks Chocolate... I was just looking at it yesterday and remembered that I needed to repot it. I've got some bamboo stakes I could use to tie it up. Now to find a spot that gets some sun... but not too much.
    Oh yeah... your's are beautiful!!!
