Hello..
Well for now im getting ideas for my foyer...
We painted it a lite melon/coral color it looks very pretty..
not much in there now but it seems we do have a few pieces of dark furniture in there.
I have an old mirror thats black but my husband is going to strip and stain it, i bet there is some nice wood under there.
The thing is whats the best place for a mirror to go
as you walk out or as you walk in?
We are trying to find the right kind of antique table to go under it as well...
ideas helpful thanks
sunflower...

Personally I would place the mirror to be seen as you walk out. Reason: you may want to check how you look for the outside world as you are leaving, and not care about how you look for the inhabitants of your home Mr. Green

Placing a mirror in a foyer i think should be seen as you walk in, it looks beautifull on a wall and makes the foyer look spacious which is good if your guests walk in, to them and to you your interior will look larger and cosy

Thank you for the reply,,,i actually like both ways.
The wall coming in i was going to put in on is alot bigger then the wall leaving.
i will get pics, maybe that will help.
The smaller wall would be nice too.
The bigger wall is the wall in our foyer in which you enter our kitchen, i could fit a table underneath
with a nice floral arrangement etc.
Then were thinking in the corner a small octogon fishtank,,,,just some thought,, ill guess ill start with the mirror and as i get pics i can figure what i am going to do with this room.
thanks again,
sunflower

I'm going to have to suggest the 'on your way out' idea too. I didn't think of it until I read this but now I'm actually going to buy a mirror for my place to do it! I think it is a great idea. My wife especially like to double check how she looks before we go out. With the mirror she'll be able to easily. Thanks for the idea.

I use mirrors to brighten up dark areas in the house, usually placing them somewhat opposite to whatever window/light is available where they will then reflect not only where they are but onto a darker corner. You can also take a little of the leftover paint from your walls and touch up the edges of your mirror/pictures/whatever with it, just a little accent, and it will make it look like it "matches". I've found taking just a touch of paint on my fingertip and brushing it over the tops of raised edges in a design is plenty.

Are you looking to put a table against the small wall going out the front door?
