I have read several times now that animals will not touch potatoes because they are in the nightshade family. Well guess who's potatoes are gone. The voles are having a field day in my potato patch. How disappointing, I wonder if you can deposit some decon into their tunnel? It would have to be deep enough or cover the poison area with chicken wire so cats can't get at it. Jerry
Get some Mole and Gopher bait in the pointy container. Use it everywhere you see their trail. Just stick the pointed end in the ground along their trail and drop a few pellets in and cover it. One container will last forever.
I've used mole bait, poison peanuts. castor oil, rat poison and anything else thats out there. It's a losing battle.
Oh, I can sympathise with you. I have had vole probs in the past too. They just pulled my toms underground into their tunnel and ate them there. The toms were in the greenhouse one day and gone the next. Good luck with those pesky beasts.
So sorry to hear that the voles is eating up all your potatoes. There must be quite a number of them. The best way to control them is to have a resident owl which I had wanted when I was having some rodent problem in my mini -farm. Another solution is to set trap. Good luck!
