ice plant???

    have alot of questions on this. someone gave me a big clump of ice plant. I have seen these in bloom. 1- do they spread? 2 how to plant and take care of them?3-when do they bloom? and will they survive winter and come back every year thank you

    Donna, ice plant is a tough little plant that here in Texas we use as a ground cover. It will survive winters here, but only if the temps are at 20 degrees or above.
    It does spread, but not invasively.
    It blooms throughout the summer and into fall.
    Plant it by breaking off a piece and sticking it in the dirt. I am not kidding--this stuff roots so easily! We use it in containers that are "neglected" a bit--those out in the full sun, and without regular watering. The ice plant seems to enjoy our benign neglect.
