My grandfather has a Pink Lilac bush and he wants to root some. Is there a good way to do this? He has tried using root hormone and a few other methods, nothing has worked. The bush doesn't have any green shoots on it now but I cut some newer growth off and trying I am trying it in a DWC hydroponic setup. I don't think this is going to work either. So, any ideas?

I always put all my clippings in a pot of good soil with rooting hormone. Then I enclose the pot in a clear plastic bag and twistie it, after watering the starts well. Works every time.

That's what we normally do as well, still didn't work. I'm thinking it needs to be soft wood/green cuttings. I'll ask him about how he's doing it.

Do a search with key word "Airlayer"

Some do better before leaves open, others after you may have to try both.
