NH, Zone 5, Grows all over sides of highways

    also, seen recently in early september - seems to be a common landscaping plant in yards as well. anyone know what this is?

    I had one of these pop up in my yard before I started my garden. It's root system was massive and it grew to 6 ft tall. :(

    New Hampshire &/or zone 5 is growing all over the highways?! Is NH going to invade MA? (Sorry, couldn't resist). I see that plant a lot, particularly now as it is in full bloom. I don't know what it is.

    We drove out to the coast this weekend on 101 and it was blooming so we noticed it all over the place. I did look up American Pokeweed, and that does look like the pictures I took.
