I've only recently had digital tv installed, which is fantastic because it has a gardening channel.
Although many good programmes are shown, Gardens Unplugged appeals to me greatly, due to the fact the 2 gardeners make projects look straightforward, rather than blinding you with science like other shows.
Their down-to-earth approach is both watchable and entertaining, humour playing a part in the show while covering each project they work on.
Instead of making gardening and garden projects seem almost frightening for an amateur to consider undertaking, they make each project within reach of everyone, involving a bit of imagination and of course common-sense.

What channel is that on C.J? I admit I am not a fan of these garden design programmes where the gardens they create are elaborate and pretentious (like Diarmuid Gavin's shows) so your recommendation sounds like my type of show.

UKTV Style Gardens. (I'll need to check if that is right)
You are spot on with the description of some gardening shows, which literally strike fear into the heart of amateur gardeners wanting to attempt a few projects of their own.
I watch most of the other shows as well, Garden Challenge, Garden Rivals, etc., etc. However, it is more programmes like this I'd look forward to seeing.
They only undertake reasonably-sized projects, rather than a whole garden, as they know most people can't do everything at once on their own.
One project in a different garden every programme.
I can't tell you how often or when it is on, as I don't yet have a tv guide covering this channel (if there is one) Although I've certainly seen enough of the series to know it is good.

I was interested to know what channel it was on C.J but I won't be able to get that over here in Sweden  One thing the British do really well is gardening programmes and that is one thing I miss about TV in Ireland.
I like any gardening show that goes back to basics really.

We don't have a digital TV although as soon as this one 'gives up the ghost' we'll have to get one as everybody is going digital. Let's hope there's still some great gardening programmes around when we do get one.
