Last weekend we had a good amount of rain. And then someone here (sorry... I don't remember who) posted a photo of their Rain Lilies. And then Toni posted her "naked ladies".
Today, I noticed this pretty little thing by the fence along the driveway.
I did an online search, but couldn't quite pin point it.
    What do you all think?

Sorry about the weird angle... I was trying to get the flower, bud, stem all in one photo.
Thanks in advance for any info.

Well what do you know! I don't ever recall seeing these around here. And there seems to be another patch popping up where the "old" daffodils usually pop up.
Hmmmm... I'm gonna keep an eye on these. And do some reading up.
    Neato!

Cal, the Rain Lily will go dormant after sending up leaves if rain is scarce. Depending on how frequently rain falls, the leaves could return before it flowers but sometimes the leaves do not. After a rain, it is sometimes a matter of hours between Rain, Leaves and/or just blooms. ...hence the name of Rain Lily.

Well they're a nice bonus after rain and I'm surprised we don't have them on our side of the pond  or maybe we do elsewhere and it just seems like we have a lot of rain in our little bit.

Calin... that grass looking stuff is just grass nearby. It was just a stalk and the flower. And I noticed on the plant page Toni linked to said they grow in full sun. This one is at the base of a very large sycamore tree. Now I'm really curious to see what that sprouts are by the driveway, that is in full sun.

Kiasmum. You can buy the bulbs in Britain, but they are a bit tender and do not really enjoy our weather.
I grew them from seed a few years back but they did not thrive. Sad.

    What beauties Chocolate.

BTW do you grow the "Southern Cross" in your garden, or do you consider this a weed? When I was there I found these plants so lovely that I pressed one and brought it home.

    Oké. Thanks

Cheryl--I do not recognize that flower, but it sure is pretty. Is it early for that to be blooming?
