There are a few reasons why they haven't performed DA.

1. Not enough water.

2. Not enough sunlight.

3. Not enough feeding.

4. The plants were too old.

Maybe someone else can offer some other reasons for you too.

Thanks for that Eileen, I think in this case it must be age they have been in the plot for a while now, as i adopted the plot from my uncle, i will have to ask him how long they have been planted for.
