Saw this poor butterfly and wondered what was up.

A crab spider was eating him so I let him finish and brought him up to the patio for a photo on a persian shield.

He liked the new spot and stayed. Then I saw a sulphur butterfly flapping in distress. I figured a spider had him too but I just couldn't see it. I started to slip my hand under it figuring the spider would be too busy to bite when I saw this fellow.

He was very hard to see on this manettia vine. It was a bad day for butterflies!

Marvelous shots Bethie even if the butterflies ended up as lunch for the spider and mantis.

More magnificent photos. And all of these on just one day. Between Eileen, Bethie and Kimberly, it is almost sensory overload.

That yellow butterfly looks like the one I was trying to get a picture of yesterday. Do you put a spell on them to get them to sit still? I saw a monarch butterfly the other day with holes in its wings. I thought maybe the grasshoppers had been chewing on it. I never thought of spiders. Dooley
