Dan & I finally had a day off together, during the day.He came and installed my DSL. It went fine, with a lot of waiting for the computer to do things. We have to have MSN with the package but nothing said I had to use it so I am still using Firefox for a browser. I haven't figured out MSN anyway. It looks a complete mess and I haven't figured out how to change things on it. It was on my task bar last night but not this morning. I don't see the instant messenger thingie either. The MSN icon is on the desktop though. Oh well, it's not something I'll worry about because the computer works just fine as it is now. DSL doesn't seem any faster than cable but we decided to go with the DSL because they would lock in the price for life and we shared the cable with Dan. If he moves anytime and takes his cable it would have cost us twice as much. Dooley

We had dialup internet service for years which meant when Randy was working from home two days a week, he had the phone line tied up for the whole day. We got DSL 3-4 years ago, he can work, amanda and I can get on line at the same time.....still can't use the phone since it has to be kept free for business calls. Next year we are getting another phone line just for his work calls.

My first connection to email was thru the original Juno no internet connection just email. The computer would dialup a local number, download the email, then disconnect. When I was ready to send mail it would dialup, send the mail, download any new email that was there, then disconnect. Sometimes the number was busy for a long time and the alternate number was busy too....and you could only connect 10 times in a 24 hour period.

I don't see where it is faster either Dooley. But we can use both computers at the same time and the phone lines are free, so I guess that makes it worth it.
