Yes they do Julie. They eat the seeds and tissue. I think that particular milkweed plant is going to have a hard time of it if those bugs don't shift.

http://www.gardenstew.com/about1819.html

poyda posted this bug spray recipe last June, we used it a couple of time last summer and fall to get rid of whatever it was that was biting me. The stuff got rid of all sorts of pests but didn't hurt the butterflies, worms or any other good guys that I could tell.

HOLD OFF
Make sure those are just aphids and ants and not MONARCH caterpillars!!!!
I can't see them so can't tell but the favorite plant of Monarchs is milkweed plants.

Shanna, do some investigating on what the caterpillars are before you start getting rid of them. You don't want to kill offf your chances of having some beautiful butterflies or helpful moths.

Smile Ty Toni for the Organic insecticide recipe. Yes Gardenfanantic those are definitely aphids. Those pic's are last years. This year there are double the number of aphids and they are trying to kill my flowers Evil or Very Mad . I also had a lot more caterpillars last year too Sad .
