I have a small herb garden just outside the kitchen door, and those herbs get used a lot! The ones in the big herb garden near the barn, not so much.
Well, last year I nearly killed the kitchen garden herbs by cutting too often. This year they are all in pots--even the ones in the big herb garden. I can easily rotate them and not over-use any one plant.
Why didn't I think of doing this before? (Because I'm a slow learner  ).

Well as long as you got there eventually Jane. ;) Now you can have fresh herbs whenever you want them and no more worring about cutting them too much.

I like that idea. I am going to have an area devoted to herbs and the like. I think i will pot them and plant the whole pot so I can rotate them if I would like.

I do that with many of my flower garden plants mainly because I bring some of them into the greenhouse for the Winter.

By doing this with my herbs, if I wanted to bring them in for the Winter I can easily do that.

I have 1 basil plant that I'm not sure if it's okay or not. I had a cilantro but I killed it. :( I don't know why I always kill my cilantro!

Cilantro doesn't live long to begin with. It usually bolts and goes to seed (this is what is known as coriander in the spice rack). I find it is much easier to toss a handful of seeds out in the flower/herb bed wherever suit you, and let it grow. I toss the seeds out when ever I think of it. Not just in the Spring. Cilantro likes cooler weather, btw.
