I have work 2 days with Paul (Shanna's brother)a dear friend Shirley and our leg runner Cheyenne helped today getting my green house(white plastic covered house up.I think it will be finished tomorrow.I have enough of it done that Cheyenne and I put the plants under it last night.All we like is the front door.I got two 200 watt bulbs today and a small electric fan heater to go inside if it gets very cold.We worked until way past dark last night and tonight this old body is wore smooth out .I put and old dresser inside for my work bench and to keep my little tools in.It is a 9 drawer dresser that should hold my seeds and lots of things I want to keep outside..I will put my seeds in jars to keep field rats away from them also I need to put something up to hang my hanging baskets on .I may just buy long sheppard hooks for them.I have one already on one of those.I plan to cover it next year with green house fiber glass sheets.
I am now worried about Kevin and Shanna's cats tearing into it.Thats all I need to just make me sit down and cry.Its covered in Heavy duty plastic but it wouldn't take but one cat to do damage to it.We have it reinforced and everything we know to do to keep it from having leaks or wind under it.I will take a picture as soon as its completely finished.I thought of it today but was to exhausted to walk in the house for the camera.I still had to go to town and get groceries .I just didn't get pictures yet any way. I will be headed for bed really soon I think.

That is exactly the problem Sharon and I have with ours it is similar and the cats seem to love scratching it. We are trying to figure out a solution if we do I will let you know

Sounds exhausting Glenda, but just think of how useful it will be when it is fully complete. Absolutely worth it 
Why don't you ask the question about stopping cats scratching the plastic in the Gardening Tips forum, that way someone searching the Web might find it easier

Cayenne Pepper
Sprinkle it around the soil where the cat walks. It's intensely unpleasant, but not harmful.
Vinegar
Spray a vinegar-water solution around the base of your acid-loving plants.
Orange Peels
Save those citrus peels and sprinkle them around shrubs and plants. Cats hate the scent of citrus as much as vinegar. To make the peels go further, grind them in a blender to release the citrus oils and mix with water.
Moth Balls
Another scent deterrent, but please, place them inside a covered can with a few holes poked in it. They can be toxic if ingested, and you just want to discourage kitty visitors, not harm them.
I think you can buy a spray at pet stores. I don't have this problem with two German Shepherds. 
Be sure and try something after all your hard work.

Good for you Glenda. My frame is still between two trees, upside down. That is where we put it before the hurricane last year and we haven't done anything with it since. We really need to get out there and turn it right side up and put some plastic back on before a freeze sneaks up on us.

Sounds like you worked your butt off, Glenda. Just think how much you willl love your greenhouse. Nothing smells better than inside a greenhouse. Well, brownies baking might.......

I'd second this. Don't think I've ever seen a kitty dining on an orange

A neighbour of mine used cheap trellis's from the pound shop and put them up against the first foot or so of the plastic like this xxxxxxxxxxx and the cats left it alone. He also planted some scaredy cat plants in front of the trellis. I hope all your hard work pays off Glenda. You must show us piccies of it when everything is in place. I only wish I had space left in the garden for a greenhouse.

Thanks everyone.I am going to try the pepper and the vinegar first and start saving my peels for the citrus .Thanks so very much .My last day off and it began at 9 am and I'm on the computer for the first time today.Cheyenne and I came inside after dark thirty.I had a baked chicken I bought at the grocery store last night. Just heated and Cheyenne helped get the rest heated ..(I bought 2 chickens thank goodness I did)I had mashed potatoes,cream corn,bisquits for super .I was totaly exhausted but my green house is as finished as it will ever be.I am so glad my plants will have a chance to live.I can get plants started early and I look forward to Winter now .

I'd like to warn against the cayenne pepper - try orange or vinegar first, please. Cayenne is cruel - cats have been known to literally scratch their own eyes out from the pain of it. 
I do hope you find something to preserve your work - I had never thought about that aspect of this type of greenhouse, something to plan for if I ever need to expand with one.

Thank you wouldn't want to hurt them.I'm going to also put up the trellis things that Eileen said we can get it here just can't remember the name of it.I have one piece.I was growing something on but I also have some wire wonder if that might work or would they try to get through it?
