July 1st is Canada's birthday, and so I get the day off. Storms with high winds are in the forecast today, so I thought I would get out and look at the gardens before the storms hit. The front of the house faces north and so that is where some Hosta's are.

The little pot on top of the rain barrel has a gifted 'Pandora's Box' miniature Hosta yet to be planted. It is so tiny I am almost afraid to put it in the garden in case the slugs or rabbits make a meal of it!

I have 2 pumpkin (squash?) vines growing in the new section of the garden, most likely from the compost. My youngest daughter says I can't have pumpkins growing in the flower bed, but I just don't have the heart to pull them out when they are doing so well. Maybe I will train them up a small trellis so they don't swallow the plants

Thanks for walking in my gardens with me today :)

Beautiful grounds and gardens,Netty. I enjoyed the walk through very much. You are way ahead of here in NB. I don't have one bloom yet to show except for my old fashioned rose bush. Do have a nice day off. Happy Canada Day!

Beautiful, Netty. I love the Pandoras Box hosta. How cute.

Btw: it is my oldest son's birthday today, too.

I love all of your garden. Beautiful! The yellow day lily with the bright phlox behind was striking. Your hostas all look so lush. I like the way you used them to line the walkway. I just treated myself to a little 'Pandora's box' hosta this morning. Mine will go into a pot until it gets much larger. Ca't wait until your next stroll. Please take us along again. :stew1:

Thank you everyone. I've been spending a lot of time out there this week. The rain on Tuesday made the weeds grow like crazy!
Chrisle - What zone would you be there in NB? I hope you had a good Canada Day too!
Carolyn - Happy Birthday to your son!
Jewell - the bright bloom behind the Stella D'Oro Daylily is actually a Sweet William. They seem to be growing everywhere I used compost last year, and there are a few different colors around the yard. I love them!
