July 1st is Canada's birthday, and so I get the day off. Storms with high winds are in the forecast today, so I thought I would get out and look at the gardens before the storms hit. The front of the house faces north and so that is where some Hosta's are. ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) The little pot on top of the rain barrel has a gifted 'Pandora's Box' miniature Hosta yet to be planted. It is so tiny I am almost afraid to put it in the garden in case the slugs or rabbits make a meal of it! ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) A few more ahead to the left ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) Spiraea's need trimming! ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) 'Paul's Glory' doing very well this year 'Paul's Glory' ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) Coming around the corner and looking thru the arbor ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) Things have started to fill in nicely since the last rain ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) A welcome volunteer ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) The last 2 Peony blooms ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) I have 2 pumpkin (squash?) vines growing in the new section of the garden, most likely from the compost. My youngest daughter says I can't have pumpkins growing in the flower bed, but I just don't have the heart to pull them out when they are doing so well. Maybe I will train them up a small trellis so they don't swallow the plants ( photo / image / picture from Netty's Garden ) Thanks for walking in my gardens with me today
Beautiful grounds and gardens,Netty. I enjoyed the walk through very much. You are way ahead of here in NB. I don't have one bloom yet to show except for my old fashioned rose bush. Do have a nice day off. Happy Canada Day!
I just love when you post photos of your gardens... better than looking at any gardening magazine! Just beautiful!
All I needed was a cup of coffee to complete my stroll through your gardens. Thanks Netty it was wonderful.
Beautiful, Netty. I love the Pandoras Box hosta. How cute. Btw: it is my oldest son's birthday today, too.
Beautiful gardens as usual Netty. I don't know whether the drool with lust or cry with envy..a little of both I think.
I love all of your garden. Beautiful! The yellow day lily with the bright phlox behind was striking. Your hostas all look so lush. I like the way you used them to line the walkway. I just treated myself to a little 'Pandora's box' hosta this morning. Mine will go into a pot until it gets much larger. Ca't wait until your next stroll. Please take us along again.
Thank you everyone. I've been spending a lot of time out there this week. The rain on Tuesday made the weeds grow like crazy! Chrisle - What zone would you be there in NB? I hope you had a good Canada Day too! Carolyn - Happy Birthday to your son! Jewell - the bright bloom behind the Stella D'Oro Daylily is actually a Sweet William. They seem to be growing everywhere I used compost last year, and there are a few different colors around the yard. I love them!
It is such a pleasure to see your garden. It absolutely looks professionally done. I like your arrangement of the plants. What a lovely thing to see.
