The story begins with the rescuers finding this poor little guy they named Ralphie that someone had already taken under their wing but were not equipped to adopt:

Ralphie, scared and starved, joined his rescuers...

I wouldn't think anything could live thru this...
but we were wrong.

This little lady survived that wreckage.

Here she is just placed in the car - scared, but safe.

and then... no longer alone!

Instant friends, they comforted each other while in the car.

Add two more beagles found after that...
the more, the merrier!

Oh boy, a new traveler to add to the mix...
(note: the cat coming over the seat needing shelter...)
now just how is this going to work???

It's going to work just fine, thank you very much!

Wow! ; The things we learn from our animal friends...
If only all of mankind could learn such valuable lessons
as this. Lessons of instant friendship. Of peace and harmony
by way of respect for one another -- no matter one's color or creed.

We are one in mankind.. .
These animals tell you... "It's just good to be alive and with others." Yes, it surely is.

So... Live, love, laugh.

Oh what a wonderful story. I pray they all found good homes. How heartwarming to see them all curled up together. I have always thought the same as you Eileen, what we couldn't learn from animals.

I think deep down all humans are like this anyhow, it's just in modern civilisation it has been swept under the carpet a bit.

Great photo story Eils, how did you come across these? Heartwarming Smile

Seems like we are like those animals in away. We've all come together from God knows where for no other reasson than to make the earth green again. Maybe we should go out and teach someone.

Oh those poor babies. We all think of the human survivors but we seldom think of the poor animals. That is definately a great story for everyone to see and take notice too. Yes if only us humans could love everyone else so unconditionally as these animals suddenly loved each other! The world would definately be a whole lot better place for sure. Eileen thanks for sharing these pics and story with us!

This story was repeated thousands of time over here. The animal rescuers were heros. Many of them are still working and are still rescuing stranded and now feral animals. I have friends all over the country who are fostering Katrina rescues. We were fortunate to be able to leave with our beloved Ursula in the back of my van. And you all know we were never able to return to our house.

Heartrending . . . on so many levels.

Inspiring, the good that can be brought out of tragedy,
but what a pity that it so often takes a tragedy to do it. Rolling Eyes

What wonderful people, to be taking the time to care for the 'furry people' who have lost their homes. I wonder how many former owners are able to be reunited with their pets?

Many have been reunited, but so many have not been either able to take their pets back because of having no place to live or had poor health or because they were killed.
