I have a friend who had some old horseshoes she was going to throw out. Rather than see them going to waste I asked if I could have some. This is what I did with them.
What do you think? Please be honest as I value your opinions.

Really creative Eils : Now don't take this the wrong way or anything but they also reminded me of toilet seat covers and I thought "wow, imagine a toilet seat that looked like those!" Mr. Green

Job well done!

Eileen, very creative. Really good job!! What kind of paint did you use?
My first thought was not toilet seat covers thank goodness, but candle rings. Of course you wouldn't want to burn the candle but a wide white pillar candle in the middle would be pretty.

And my first thought was you had made trivets for hot things. Pretty things.

Actually toilet seat covers would be great if painted up like this I suppose. You can actually buy covers that sparkle, have dolphins on them etc nowadays. Not to my taste though.

The paints are acrylics (a black base coat and then the colours) with a few coats of yacht varnish on top. The lace background is simply my dining room table cloth. Very Happy

Around here you can buy toilet seats with real scorpions imbedded in them. I have also seen one with a real rattlesnake in it. Tourist trash- not for me.

That's how these forums go you know. I myself far prefer horse shoes to toilet seats and certainly to scorpions. Nice work Eileen.

They are a combination of the traditional horseshoe hung for good luck and a floral wreath. Brilliant idea and brilliant execution. If I could paint I'd do up some myself. Too bad I'm not closer to you because I have buckets full of old shoes.

They made me think of the Kentucky Derby right away, you know, the run for the roses. Really beautiful.

Very pretty Eileen, I have no talent for painting and I admire anyone who does.

I think you should try to get a hold of some work horse shoes and do your magic on them. I think they would be stunning.
