I asked hubby this weekend if we could make a new birdfeeder. The old one is on it's last legs and I hope to take some bird pix this winter. After discussing size and shape we made it. One side of the roof is hinged for easy filling. I had some leftover copper leaves to embellish it with. The birds love it.
Sheet copper is readily available at craft stores and easy to work with. It can be cut with large scissors or tin snips.
Shiny copper ages beautifully in the garden.

Simply beautiful, Bethie. Our birds would be fighting over that birdhouse. I love to see copper in the garden. It is lethal to fish in a pond, but great in the garden. You have so many talents.

Bethie that's awesome, really awesome. Where did you learn all of these skills? That's a huge birdfeeder also, you should get many the good photo from it this winter. Well done to you and hubby!

I couldn't have a gorgeous bird feeder like yours Bethie in my garden as the squirrels would ruin it in no time.  I love it though and the copper leaves are so realistic!! I must add copper sheets to my Christmas list!!

Bethie, love the bird feeder with the copper decorations, you two did a great job.
The face in the last picture, did you do that yourself, have a pattern or buy it? I would love to find one.

Hey Toni, the little face was made from a glass plantspike I got as a gift.
I popped the glass out and mixed some plaster in a cool-whip container. When the plaster starts to gel the glass is gently pressed into it to make a mold. When cured I coil up 60/40 solder in an iron dipper over a torch and pour into the mold. The hanger is then suspended into the molten solder. Each mold can be used about 5x. The heat cracks them. The glass is unharmed in the moldmaking. Here is the same face with some glass around it.
Here is a pin done the same way for an outdoor piece. The pin is sprayed with Pam before pressing into plaster..
You can make molds from acorns and all kinds of things.

Very nice birdfeeder - my husband has built one or two but they always are sold or given away. Love the copper leaves.
