We wanted large bedroom for a comfortable king size bed (right now we have a full size and it is too small), but settled for an apartment with a smaller bedroom because this has a balcony facing a park which starts a foot away from our apartment. Out bed room (rectangle) dimensions are length 16ft 8in, width 10ft 2 inches.

Unfortunately Air conditioner is fitted on the 16ft wall so the bed has to go on the opposite side. On the opposite side, the wall size is 9ft 9 inches as on either side of this shorter wall we have the corridor and the bathroom door. Will a king size bed be too large for this room? We have only a dresser in this room (size 61" X 21")- no other furniture, other than the bed.

Thanks

Hi Arun and a warm welcome to GardenStew Cool

I had a look on the Web to find out standard king size bed dimensions and found out the following information relevant for the States. There are two sizes, Standard King (also known as Eastern King) or California King (also known as Western King). The dimensions are:

- Standard King: 76" wide x 80" long (6' 4" X 6' 8")
- California King: 72" wide x 84" long (6' X 7')

It sounds like you will be easily able to fit a king size bed against the wall. Smile Of course it depends on what else is in the room taking up space.

Let us know what you think Arun and welcome again.

Hi there and WELCOME to GardenStew!!!! Mr. Green

Before buying your bed Arun chalk mark out the exact measurments of your new bed on the floor of the room. If you do this you'll be able to see if the bed will fit or not. I found this an invaluable way of 'placing furniture' before purchasing it. After all you don't want to buy an expensive item like a bed only to find out it's of no use to you when it's delivered.

Oh by the way also measure the door width and height to make sure that the bed will actually get through the space. So many people have bought furniture that fits nicely into a room but they can't get it through their doorways.

Hope this has helped. Very Happy

Once you go king size, you'll never go back. When we first got ours I thought it looked like a parade float. Smile
