Quite a few of my Blue Jays chase one another off of the tray so they can grab a peanut but I have a pair of them that feed quite often together...

Beautiful birds. Those nuts will keep them very warm over this Winter.

I wonder what office gossip they share? :) Nice to see them getting along so well. Thanks for sharing Sherry!

A good example of teamwork where the both benefit from their efforts.

Now that's what I call eating in tandem!! Thankfully there's enough nuts to stop the jays fighting over them.

Beautiful blue, and great looking birds. We don't see them out this way.

Hi. Great photos and lovely birds obviously enjoying life in your garden. Myself I have feeders with different foods but sadly this area where I live in spite of all the masses of lovely trees is short of hedgerows - all dug out - so not ideal for smaller birds to nest. So few birds and the numbers seem to be lessening. Several members of the Tit family and the occasional Woodpecker and Nuthatch is about it. A few bigger birds like Blackbirds, Pigeons, Doves and Crows also. We moved here from near to a big town and in the garden there was many more and in much bigger variety than here - have not seen a Song Thrush and very few Green and Goldfinches since being here. Very disappointing. Syd.

Sydney...I will be so sad when I can't see all of my birds...I think we might be staying here maybe another year or possibly more...I think I will miss the birds more than gardening . Our trees are large now and 10 years ago we started with 0 on our lot. So we built a pergola to hang feeders from, which we could take down now but it is there so we use it, it kind of keeps most of the mess in one area except for the feeders around the patio.
Have you tried leaving some piles of brush for cover for the small birds? even if you put your Christmas tree out there for them to hide in if it is real. My hawk would get all of them if we didn't have the lilacs and other smaller shrubs but they seem to like our large spruce best of all. But many times I have seen the hawk dive in and get one. Watching the birds is a big part of our day...last night we had 4 male cardinals and 3 females come up for safflower on the patio...Best of luck in attracting more birds.

Thank you everyone for the nice comments
