I've found a site where a guy is selling the greatest sock er...things... that I've ever seen. He has a whole gallery of ones that have already been 'adopted' to various homes - check out some of their names - I'm not inclined to buy one myself, (oy, high price for a stuffed sock!) but I love the concept and am trying to figure out how I could make one - maybe some of you craft-y folks would fare better than I.
Haha!

My youngest decided she would like to take a stab at it - this is the result, using some of our many unmatched socks. She made the legs by splitting the sock and stitching and stuffing both halves.

Haha these are great, what a twisted mind the artist has to be able to come up with such original creatures. Your daughter made a great go of it there Prim. What has she named it?
I'd love to see a sock version of a Venus fly trap.

My grandma used to make sock critters for me. I lost them in Katrina, dammit. They were just wonderful and at least 60 years old.

Awww, Jan, I hate that for you, those are the most painful kind of material losses.
Prim, I love the sock-a-saurus your daughter made, it looks like a friendly creature.

I like your daughter's creature. It is a wonderful use for mismatched socks. We certainly have a lot of them around here.

I have a suitcase stuffed with them - literally. I did a 'travel' theme for my bookfair a couple years ago and everyone gave me mismatched socks for a guessing game (how many socks are in the suitcase?). I've never been sure what to do with them ever since - at last, we can use up some of the more colorful ones.

I love that one y6our daughter made reminds me of Mr. snuffauplogus from Sesame Street. When I wa sabout 7 my aunt made me a sock monkey out of rockford socks they had a red toe and heeland were gray. I lost track of it when I went in the Air Force they wouldn't let me take to basic training

I had a sock monkey made out of those red toed socks. I took mine to Michigan State Univ, to Univ of Chicago and on down to NO. I can't imagine the AF would not let you have yours. The philosophy profs at U of Chi sorta liked mine.

How cute. It would be right at home on Sesame Street.
