Has anyone ever grown an iris called 'Formosana Ohwi'? A friend sent me a piccie of one just before going on holiday today and I've fallen in love with it!! Mr. Green Sadly I can't find much on the net about it so am looking for info on what conditions it likes. I really, really, want to try growing some here if it's at all possible.

Here's my friends piccie - isn't it absolutely gorgeous?

It looks as though it is made of fabric that is beginning to unravel.

Eileen, try lace handkerchief iris. I haven't found my catalog yet, but that is the name I recall.

OO Sharon!!!!!! Wayside Gardens is a terrific site. Mr. Green Although it doesn't have the iris I'm looking for you have GOT to have a look at Item# 44865 - iris chrysographes - I love, love, love it!!!!!! Oh dear poor Ian's salary is going to be all used up before the month ends if you keep showing me gorgeous flowers like this. Wink Wink

Eileen, I ordered chrysographes, but not from Wayside, it came up, but never bloomed and did not come up the next year. I had it in a pot with good soil, I don't know what happened. I also order a daylily, David Kirchoff, very expensive, it came up, but never grew very well and eventually died. It was a very dissapointing experience. The only thing that made it was a La. iris, which still hasn't bloomed, maybe this year, it's third.

Oh dear maybe I won't order it then. Sad If you can't get it to prosper then I doubt I will. Oh well at least Ian's chequebook can heave a sigh of relief. Rolling Eyes

Eileen, I think that is was just the company because none of the other stuff did good either. The La. iris has come back but never bloomed. It is in a pot and I am going to put it in the ground as soon as all this rain stops. My other La. irises all do fairly well. The best one is a copper colored that we got fromt he swamp. It is absolutely gorgeous. Hopefully I will be able to get pics this spring.
