Eileen - I dug out some of my watercolours this morning - had to fool around in the loft to find them.

WOW, I am blown away by how good these are. Maybe you Should quit your day job. The colors in the first one are stunning but they are all excellent. Did I say how great I think these are?

Pete, these are beautiful!!! And you do not do this full time and get rich and famous? Oh, that's right, you already did that.

Hey Pete I thought you said that you weren't much of an artist?!! Sorry but I have to disagree with you. You have a natural flair for painting that shouted out at me as soon as I looked your pictures. Your father would have been so proud of you. Obviously he passed his talent on to you. I'm pretty hopeless at drawing anything but animals, birds and flowers and could never get the detail on a train the way you have. I'm no great shakes with a paint brush either (except for decorating in the house ) so I envy you the way you can create a mood when you put paint to canvas.
Thank you so much for hunting your watercolours out for us all to see and if you find (or do) any more then please let us see them won't you?

Those are stunning Pete. And you are hiding them in a loft? They should be hanging up where they can be enjoyed.

What a wonderful surprise to come to the Stew this morning and find myself in an art gallery.
They are really superb, Pete, thank you for sharing them with us.

Kind, kind words - all much appreciated. I think every budding artist relooks at his/her work after putting it away for a while and thinks 'Why didn't I do it that way instead of this, or, I'm not sure about those colours now, and so on.' But if they're liked for what they are, then maybe I'm being too self critical.
Anyway, as there are some train fans amongst us, here are another couple, plus another two country scenes from my travels.
Above: No.498 'Otto Mears' at Dobwalls Narrow Gauge Railway, Cornwall. (The driver isn't overscale - it's a miniature ride-on railway. Great fun!)
Above: 'Owain Glyndwr' on the Vale of Rheidol Railway, Mid Wales.
Above: Cottages at Porlock Weir, Somerset
Above: The Harbour, Aberaeron, Mid Wales
Pete

Thank you so much for the 2 more train paintings. I know exactly what you mean about looking back at older work with a critical eye. It is the same with writing. I look at some older work and say,"What was I thinking?" I guess beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. From one beholder then, your paintings are truly beautiful.
