I usually look and look thru the seed catalogs, when I find something I want my first thought is....maybe I can find it around here somewhere. You know support the local economy. But this year I know I can not find these particular flowers, well maybe the flowers but not in these colors, so I am ordering them. I have decided that I need some blacks or blues and purples that are almost black to set off the other colors in the garden, so a lot of what I buy this year will be really dark.

These are annuals, but there are many seeds in the pkt...

Blue Woodruff, the blue annual version of Sweet Woodruff which I can find here but have very little luck with.

Sweet Scabious 'Black Knight'...I have a purple one that is still holding it's own in the wheel barrow out back.

Cornflower 'Black Gem'...again I have a purple/blue version already, but have never seen the black one locally.

And a Chocolate Peppermint Geranium plant...I always have a large pot of scarlet red ones by the front door but the combination of chocolate and peppermint I just couldn't resist.

They sound great Toni. I really better get my act together and figure out what I want to order before all the good stuff is gone!

Sharon they are from the Select Seed catalog. I had to pay extra shipping for the geranium plant but even with that it wasn't much more than buying locally and paying sales tax.....that is if I could have found it locally.

I have started picking up a few flowers when I pop into the garden centre. I have brought a selection of nasturtiums to use as sacrifice plants as the blackfly love them and should keep off my broad beans, but I am hoping to have some of the flowers to have with summer salads.
