Finally my Strelizias are opening. A little later than normal but they were split in late summer, so better late than never.

Here is my big orchid with the first bloom starting to open. There are going to be 8 or 9 stems of flowers. Everytime I look, there is a new stem coming.

This is a clivia, also split in the summer, so flowers on this are a welcome site.

Eileen, here is the pitcher plant you sent me. Two new leaves, so I think it has finally made itself at home.

And finally, a little hot chilli plant. This one came in from the greenhouse as it was covered in flowers back in November, and now, even with a spot of white fly, the fruits have ripened.

You always seem to have some good plant thing going on at your house. Hubby and I were drooling over the photo of the strelizia with the sunrays hitting it. Beautiful. Cool

OH YES! I just love them all, and how wonderfully healthy they all look.
That Cymbidium is going to put on a tremendous show for you, isn't it? Very Happy
I could certainly make myself right at home in your conservatory, EJ. Mr. Green

Aw, thanks you guys. Yes, that makeover is certainly paying off. The only thing is, my darling noticed that I seem to be gathering a selection of plants in pots again so now he is wondering where the next big planter should be built. Smile

Yes, the Strelizia is a Bird of Paradise. I have 4 different varieties, but 3 are still young, a good few years off flowering. This mumma I have been growing since I was in my teens!

The sun was shining in brightly today and the plants really looked lovely. The orchid is going to be stunning - I will try to take a photo daily to show it's opening progress. Smile Smile

You're right Glenda, the birds do make terrific cut flowers, very long lasting.
My plant (that's it in my avatar) has grown too big to keep in my little house
(or even in the glasshouse) over the winter months,
so it is relegated to the back lot where it sits out in front of the garage
so that we can pull it inside during frosty weather.
I can't see it from the house, but I cut the flowers and bring them in to enjoy,
they last for weeks.

They are gorgeous EJ. My grandmother had a bird of paradise that was huge and blossomed beautifully. I've never tried to grow one.
