I was out in the yard yesterday and I saw that we have bluebirds!! Razz I haven't seen bluebirds around our house since we moved here 6 years ago!! I'm soooo excited beings they are my very favorite bird, cardinals running a very close second!! I need to know what kind of house to put up for a bluebird family. Shocked I know certain birds prefer their homes to be built certain ways! Can anyone help pleaseeee!! Very Happy
I really want the bluebirds to like it here and stick around!!

Julie,

http://www.backyardbird.com/bluebirdhouses.html

They have lots of pictures of nest boxes for bluebirds. We have BlueJays up here but I have yet to see a bluebird even tho we are in their range, but they probably do not like city life any more than I do.
Very Happy

Thanks for the link Toni!! There is alot of houses to choose from there! Hopefully I can get John to take a peek at them and build one for me!! I hope one day a family of bluebirds will decide to move to the city for you!! Fred would be even better with a family living there!!
Ohh Zuzu I hope this is the year they decide to take up resident in your boxes for you too!!They are such beautiful little guys!!

I'm excited for you. We always have bluebirds and we dearly love them. Maybe you can get dear hubby to make two houses so you can increase your chances of them nesting. Cool

Julie,
I also found some good info on the bluebird houses after the one this place is selling.

http://www.apptrav.com/blue-bird-houses.html

and this place gives measurements and building directions.

Julie you must take some photographs for us if the bluebirds move in and raise a family. Wouldn't it be wonderful to see them bringing up their young in one of your nest boxes. Mr. Green

Hubby built three bluebird houses for our backyard last year. We had some lookers but they didn't stay around to nest. Hopefully this year. Hope yours stay around.
