For my school project we are to come up with an invention. My invention is an automatic leaf vacuum. It would be a robot of some sort that goes around the lawn sucking up the leaves and grind them up. So I was wondering what you think of it?

Sounds like a great idea to me Merbia. I know there are already leaf vacuums on the market but to have one that goes around on its own doing the work for you sounds ideal. You must let us see it when it's finished and up and running.

I think it is a good idea merbla. It would have to chop up the leaves pretty fine to allow them to be left on the lawn without any problems for the lawn below.
I would really love to hear how you would tackle the automated process of seeking out the leaves. Good luck.

If there was a way to define it's boundaries so it didn't accidently go vacuuming and chopping up my good plants as well, I'm for it. Gopher-dirt-mounds and the like could be another issue...hm...

Just be careful that you don't make that robot too intelligent. You don't want to have it revolt against the human race and go on a rampage or anything. Never create what you can't control.
