Almost forgot to include this little chap. Here he is in all his glory. Their call sounds like someone shouting goback, goback go backbackbakcbackback. Very Happy

He was sitting on a fence just at the side of the road. By the way that isn't snow behind him it's frost!!!

He is intensely good looking.
Eileen, I am curious to know your last frost date.

Bethie our last frost date varies widely. There was a year we had severe frosts at the end of May and deep snow on 1st June. Shocked

He looks like he would defend his territory hence the "go back" chant. "Ger off my land!"

Well, isn't he a fine, fancy fowl?

I like your description of his call
". . . sounds like someone shouting goback, goback go backbackbakcbackback"
I wonder if I could station one at the end of my driveway
