Have noticed lately that smilies are no longer animated here or anywhere. Does anyone know what may have happened? I like using these little guys and it's just not the same when they don't move!

Hmmm Netty everything's working fine from my end. It sounds to me like there is a setting in your browser that may be switched off e.g. animated images off. What browser are you using so I can do a little research and get back to you?

They're dancing around just fine for me too.

Netty, this happened to me a while back, Shocked and you all know what an emoticon junkie I am!!
After much angst and agitation,
I discovered that it was a firewall (EZ Armor) that was the culprit.

Got rid of that and everything cleared up,
not all at once, but in "chunks", apparently as the cache turned over.
I didn't have to get rid of or disable any other firewalls.

You might try disabling whatever firewall you have, just to see what happens.

I'm using Firefox. Where would I go to check "animated images off"? I went into Tools>options but didn't find anything unusual.

Ok Netty had a quick look and I don't actually see anything. Have you tried viewing through a different browser like Internet Explorer? Zuzu could be onto something with her external application theory (those security applications can do the screwiest things sometimes).

BTW do you use ZoneAlarm?

Play animations in web pages is checked. I recently did a windows update, Norton Antivirus update and a Java update. Could one of these updates have changed that?

I guess it's Norton. I can't seem to find a way into the settings for that though...

Is it Norton Internet Security?

I found this:
Quote:
Youre using Norton Internet Security? check this out...
Rightnclick the task tray and open norton internet security.
Go to options then Internet Security
Then click the Web Content tab
Make sure animated images and flash are on "permit" not block.
I had to do this so i could see the buttons for another forum, hope it helps

That's a great link gardenstew.
I recently updated my web accelerator and I think that has blocked some stuff. I'll go fiddle with that...

Well, still no success in finding the reason why my smilies are not animated. Checked settings on my web accelerator, Norton, internet options and still nothing.
No Frank, I don't use Zone Alarm.
Funny thing is on another site, one of the smilies blinked but the others didn't do anything!
