I unfortunately tore the leaf from its bulb while uprooting it for replanting. :'(
The bulb is white and a little elongated.I planted it back in the pot.I don't think there is any chance that they will bloom this year though - right?
The leaf looks very different than the leaves of daffy.Any idea what they are?

Please know, I'm pulling this guess out
of thin air, and know nothing about the
plant I'm going to suggest, but.
At first glance, the first thing I thought
about when I saw the leaf was a Jack in the
Pulpit. I do apologize, I don't even know about
them, but something made me think of them.
A shot in the dark.

Wuvie you could be right!! I don't grow Jack in the pulpit here but I've found a website with piccies and they definately have similar stripes to the ones Tina has posted.

Tina when I first moved into this cottage things were popping up in the garden everywhere. I left them to flower so that I could ID them better. Then if they were something I wanted I transplanted them. If they weren't they were discarded to make way for other plants. Maybe you could do the same? You can always put plants, bulbs and seeds that you buy into pots to add colour to your garden until you know exactly what's growing there and what you want to keep.
