Spring is almost here, woohoo! A long dull winter does no good for those wishing to get their hands dirty in the garden. In preparation for all things blooming what are your typical March gardening tasks?

We are starting plants, raking leaves preparing beds, and cutting grass. Have potatoes planted and will soon sow carrots.

I will be starting some seeds, potting up my Canna's, Dahlia's and geraniums. Weather permitting, I may be able to start cleaning out my gardens. But there is still a lot of snow to melt here first.

First thing here I will be taking down the old vines from the autumn clemmies. They are huge. I leave them up this long so the birdies can sleep in them. I did 6 hours of yard work the other day and got so much done that when hubby saw it he said whatever I was on HE wanted some of it too. Of course I had to mess with his head and tell him it was beansprouts. He said he would pass on them. 
You know Spring is around the corner when all my yard tools are in the wheelbarrow for quick transport.

Netty, I am still trying to get my beds cleaned out, too much rain. But everything Richard said plus some. I want to haul some dirt from the back to fill in a spot for some veggies and we need to clean out the little veggie spot. I am also starting a new compost pile so I will be cleaning out the old one, I want to plant something there.

I have started making new beds.I want to make a bed under my windmill so I can plant some thing pretty under the legs of it.I want to make walkways around my plant beds .I want to get so much done in March that it will take a year to do.Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get half of it done.

My main task for March is getting the birthmonth garden ready and paths. Not paths thru the main garden but around it and where the riding lawn mower needs to go from the storage shed to the gate to the front yard.
And getting seeds started. I am about to get really ticked off with Seeds of Change, they cashed my check two weeks ago today and I have not received my seeds yet.

Gotta haul in several loads of bark for paths, lay down weed blocker under the paths, gut out my cluttered shed/ blacksmith forge and get my potting bench moved in, build shelves in same, start seed in my stash of yoghurt cups, and (perversely enough considering the snowy weather we're having) get a bunch of weeds yanked up.
Yipe, I better get off the computer and out in the garden!

Shoveling snow off the front deck and driveway are the only tasks I am doing so far. I don't usually start seeds so nothing to report from here.

In March, I can't do much in the garden as there's still too much snow or else wetness. In the meantime, I occupy myself with starting hosta babies under the lights as well as a bunch of other seeds. I'm also winter sowing a couple of containers each week. Maintaining my seedlings is work plenty enough

Plenty to do here!
My seedlings are going beserk on my kitchen counter, I'm planting outside, raking, trimming, working on a new raised bed, dividing up crocosmia and weeding just about everywhere. Need to start getting the soil in the garden ready for the veggies to go in. Finally getting around to picking up all the trimmings from my pruning of the grapes, apples and plums last month, and the last of the handfuls of oak leaves from fall that are still wedged here and there in my groundcover.
Time to super-sweet one part of the lawn and 'moss out' another... not dry enough to mow yet, too squishy, but plenty coming up.

If you have any crocosmias left over can I bum a few off of you? We are still under snow but if I stored the corms in my potting shed they'd be okay wouldn't you think? I'll gladly pay postage from your house to mine!

How many do you need? I can go along and take a few here and there and make a little pile probably. They are the "lucifer" variety, orangey-red, and here they usually bloom somewhere between Aug.- early Oct. They don't weigh much, just pm me your mailing info.

Looks like the warm is finally coming I might get brave and start pulling back the mulch on some of the plants in the yard and on the creek bank. Looks like all five of my new delphiniums survived the winter. I'm beyond excited and ready to dig. Ordered a new square foot gardening book and my landscape rose hedge. My face is smiling ear to ear!!!
