I went to the nursery this morning hoping to find a bargain on end of season plants. I was sort of looking for vines and small fir trees. I found two honeysuckle plants about six foot high. There were still leaves and buds on them so I bought them for $8.88 each. The original price was $47.00 so I thought that was a bargain and bought them. Then, not ever getting away cheap, I bought six geraniums that were buy one get one free. I bought three pink dianthus (strawberry parfaiit) in big pots. Dianthus work well under our huge mulberry tree. Then, we stopped at a Wal Mart store to buy soil and mulch and some manure to mix for planting the honeysuckle. We bought 2 minature arborvite and a rather large rosemary plant. Also, petunias for a large pottery bowl that had pansy's. They expired from the heat. So, almost $70.00 later we came home. I'm not sure how much of a bargain the honeysuckle turned out to be. I have some hard digging to do now because even with the rain we've had our dirt is rock hard. We'll use the hose to water the ground as we dig. I expect we'll get up early to do it before it gets hot and humid. Dooley

You know Dooley I think we have a lot in common. I can go out looking for bargains too and end up with far more than I intended!!! I think we must be plataholics don't you? Laughing Laughing

We've not had much rain here lately (unusual for Scotland) so our ground was really dry too. Yesterday I decided to water the whole garden and had to do it with just a watering can. When I'd finished my arms felt as though they were twice their usual length. Guess what? It's pouring of rain today -just my luck!!

Hope the honeysuckles thrive for you. Smile

We went to buy groceries today and Brian wanted to get some landscape timbers to make a square bed for the geraniums so we stopped at a nursery/building supply place. So, while he went to look at the landscape timbers, guess where I went. He managed to get there before I filled my cart so I didn't buy anything. I should have had longer to look because the sign in front said, "BIG FALL SAVINGS". Never mind that it isn't fall. I really don't need plants because I do have lots of work to do on that area for the herb garden. We're moving some big cement pieces out of there. It's rocky too so I have to do something about that. I don't need to be buying things for that spot yet. I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't pass up a bargain even when it turns out to be not such a bargain. I spent all the money I saved. Dooley
