I believe that Torenia was named after Olaf Toren, a Swedish clergyman who discovered Torenia Asiatica while traveling in China in 1750. A really delightful little flower.

Torenia, one of my favorite shade flowers. As our LSU gardening guru, Dan Gill, says, if there is such a thing as a foolproof plant, torenia is it. I ordered the yellow seed this year, have yet to sow them, but I will. Yours are beautiful Olga.

I guess I need to write that down. I get to the store or nursery and forget the names of plants that I see here on Gardenstew and would like to have. I really like these. Dooley
