I just came in from the garden. Here is a list of what that rascally rabbit ate this winter:
4 miniature roses
1 Burning bush
1 Black lace Elderberry
1 Carolina Wisteria
3 Pines
1 Larch
1 Sage from the herb garden
1 Weigela
1 Thrift

Well fed bunny. Are the plants salvagable?

We had a family of rabbits in our yard many years ago that's when I started buying chicken wire by the large roll to encircle all my young plants.
I think they have either become dog food or added to a neighbors dinner menu.

Are you sure it's rabbits? Deer also come to mind!

I have a list lost to rabbits this year too. We don't have deer in our yard so am sure it is rabbit damage. Some things may be salvagable but too early yet to tell. I hope at least some of your can be saved Netty.

The deer don't come close to the house at all. I know that everything on my list was from the rabbits...they left incriminating evidence behind!
I'm not sure what will live yet, but the trees will certainly look odd.
I'm hunting rabbit now!

Rabbits are a SCOURGE in my yard. I wrap the main stems of young willows in foil in the winter. Unfortunately, you can't wrap everything in chicken wire. By the time you notice them eating something it is almost gone. They never ate my sedums until this winter. Evil or Very Mad I guess everything else was unavailable. They have been known to gnaw on the main stems of my ten year old burning bushes. I plant rye grass for them in the fall, I think it helps some. Sad
