Hi Glendan,
My sheepdogs are border collies. This breed was ignored by the breeders of show dogs for many years and so was bred for ability not appearance. Recently, the AKC has "recognized" the BC and he has begun to change. The showdogs look like golden retrievers in formal wear and the vast majority do not retain working ability. I hope the working breeders can keep the breed alive and not be swallowed up by the kennel clubs. Such a pity the original ability of so many working dogs has been lost to this type of breeding. I would love to see a real working Old English. They really are lovely dogs!
This is my smooth coated BC behind her sheep. Maisie. I lost her in June to cancer. RIP little girl.
