Well our three nights of record breaking cold are coming to an end with 60 degrees today. Of course we hadn't planted anything yet as our last frost date is the 15th. Everything here will regenerate growth but it is still disheartening. All foliage lost on Japanese
maples, altheas, wisteria, salvias, hostas, beauty berries, magnolia vine. The list just goes on. All the beautiful bignonia blooms and native azaleas gone. A hard week for gardener's but..... there's Always Next Year!

No Gardenstew, this is the worst freeze in the 21 years I've lived here. After weeks of unusual 80 degree temps things were out I've never seen at this time of year. Crepe myrtles, wiegelas, hydrangae, everything is black and ugly here.
But- it did freeze the kudzu.

We get used to frost damaged plants here in Scotland but it certainly doesn't make it any easier to look at all the plants it damages. I'll keep my fingers croseed that most of your plants survive Bethie.

Awwww, poor babies! I'm sniffling right along with you, Bethie.
Ya gotta love gardeners, we're such a forward-looking and hopeful breed,
"There's always next year" it's our chorus, isn't it?
