I went back out to see if I could get another picture of the orioles. While I was waiting I snapped a few more pictures. I finally got three of the female oriole but the male didn't come. The neighbors spent a lot of the day sitting on a bench in their yard watching and I think they have them spooked a little. Of course, Chance had to help. I had to lock her out in the big yard and wait awhile to get the female. Here are some that I took. First, the female oriole.
Then, the rest of them.
The hummingbird
the sparrow
the vulture
and one more, not a bird
That was part of my picture taking efforts for today. Dooley

Note the hummingbird picture. The bird was about to land on the feeder and the camera was fast enough to catch the wing instead of just a blur. Love Canon digital.

Did you have the camera set for speed photos?
I take my fuji camera on the motorcycle and snap them in motion.......excellent..
But never tried a bird....I dont have a feeder close to the window to do that.. Maybe I have to try..
Thanks for sharing......Hummers seem to come out in the early morning here..

Set speed? I don't know from speed. dr showed me how to use the zoom after I took the male oriole picture on Monday. I was about 12 feet away from the feeder. I put my chair under a bush and stayed quiet. The female sat up in the tree for a long time watching me before she ventured down to the feeder. Then, she went to the back side of it. We have hummingbirds all over the place. They are territorial. I was watching two locked together, zooming here and there. I tried to get a picture but they were moving too fast. I have five feeders now. The neighbor has about the same. He has oriole feeders but the orioles are eating from my hummingbird feeder. Go figure! Dooley

Great shots Dooley. I never have the patience to take bird pictures. I also don't sit still so I would probablyscare them away anyway.

Great pictures Dooley! I guess the reason I can't get any good bird photos is that I can't sit still very long! Can't wait to get the hummers back.
