I think this is a hollyhock, but not sure. I sowed hollyhocks seeds last spring in my watermelon patch. This came up last fall and I transplanted it over in my flower garden. Since hollyhock seeds were the only other thing I sowed where it came up I'm guessing it is a hollyhock. Can anyone please tell me for sure?

That is a hollyhock. Now that you have one you will have many. I thought of trying to count mine and decided very quickly it wasn't going to happen. They are beautiful. Enjoy it. Dooley

Good Job Girlfriend!!
I haven't had much luck transplanting holly hocks Rolling Eyes We are so cold out here that mine are only about 6 inches tall. Like Dooley said, now that you have one you will have oodles Very Happy I have a real pretty sherbet colored one. If it blooms this summer I'll save some seeds for you.

Finally after trying to start one from seed for the past 3 years I have one!!! I bought some dwarf hollyhocks this year but their leaves look different so I just wasn't sure about this one! I'm soooo excited!! I hope they don't take over everything but if they do take over the dreaded red salvia I will be even more thrilled!!;)hehe!!
Deanna I bet the sherbet color is beautiful!! If you have any seeds, I'll trade you some of mine for some of yours!!
Thank you everyone for your help in id-ing this for me!!

I have two of the black hollyhocks, the only way I got those was by giving my cousin some of the seeds. She is a whiz at starting seeds and gardening. So I share whenever I get seeds. They are not doing really well, full of rust. I have to treat them tomorrow, yours is lovely Julie.
