Howdy, All (especially the computer gurus);
I have need of a data file program that I can design my own 'cards' data blocks with fields for entering data items. Similar to an address/telephone # book. I'm hoping that some of you can make some recommendations along this line. Some sort of freeware is preferable but I'm willing to pay for a good, versatile software package. I'm asking you folks in hopes that someone will have a favorite that they will recommend thus saving me the time and possibly money involved in trying out stuff that I can randomly find on the internet.
Thanks, Hank.

Do mind me asking you for what purpose you need the software Hank?
From what you describe I think Mcrosoft Access would suit your needs. Do you have the Microsoft Office suite of software?

Hi, Frank; No, I don't mind at all for you to ask. Actually, it occurred to me that more info about my intended use would be helpful. I have 2 or 3 inventories that I would like to have on disc, such as my small library of books and journals; also, I have a small collection of recipes (I like to cook/serve good stuff for friends) that I currently have in a word processor. I have a real and quite cumbersome 3x5 card file of books & authors that I have read which would fit on a 3" floppy quite nicely.
I did a quick check to see if the Microsoft Office suite was a part of my Windows XP/SP2 and couldn't find it so I don't have that software. I've seen it for sale at computer/software/peripheral retail stores.
Thanks .................... Hank
