A friend of mine found this in someones trash and brought it over for me.
I thought it was kind of cute but it needed something. I used cedar sticks around the sides and top and used cedar shakes for the roof. I still have to do a few touch ups like trim the edges straight and paint the inside ring. Oh yes, and add a pot of flowers!
So what do you all think?

Much improved over the original. You are obviously more creative than you thought. The plants will make it very pretty. What do you think you will put in it? Omething draping over the edge like wave petunias would be pretty.

That's what I was thinking about Polly. That spot gets all day sun but I wondered if they would do OK with the roof over them?

I think they would do fine as long as you kept them watered well. I am terrible at remember to water things in planters. A combination of red and white ones would be very showy.

I'm very impressed Netty. For someone who doubts their creativity you could have fooled me. Plants draped over it will look magnificent. Maybe it could become my new gnome home

Thanks everyone. I'm rather proud of my first project and maybe now I'll be inspired to do more of them! I'll post another picture when it's all planted up.

How exciting. From ordinary and drab to rustic and beautiful. I think you've really started something now.

Netty that looks wonderful. My first thought would have been to decorate it with paint, but your idea is much, much better.
And with wave petunias planted in it that will look great.
