We have a ton of snails in the backyard. My grandparents own the house and have always had a lot of them, and were never able to get rid of them.
We have a cat, and a toddler so I really don't want to put snail poison out to kill them that way.
Do those decollate snails really help to control the snail problem? I saw a container of them at one of the garden centers around here. I don't know that my grandmother ever got around to trying them out.
Would anyone think it's worth a try?

Melissa I think you'd need an awful lot of decollate snails to reduce the population of pest snails in your garden. They'd take a long time to get through a serious infestation too I'm afraid.

I think they're definitely worth at least trying out Melissa. If anything it would be interesting to observe their fascinating behaviour. You may even see something like this:

Be aware that they may cause a little plant damage but if it helps with your snail problem it will be minor in comparison.

Thanks for asking this question Melissa, I just learned something really good. The only kind of snail I find in my yard is the Decollate snail not a lot, but some. I've never tried to get rid of them because I had heard somewhere many years ago that they were good for the garden but never knew why. Now I know.

Well, I think I will try them. It can't hurt. Too bad it'll take a while to really get a hold of the problem.
I was kinda hoping to hear they would start working right away.
