Well a pair of bluejays once more decided to use my walkthru arbor to build a nest in. This is a major thoroughfare in my yard. Hubby climbed up and took this pic.

We have a tacit agreement that we will all get along by ignoring each other. This goes very well and they are polite neighbors, especially for Jaybirds. I even told them I would do my best to protect them. Yesterday evening a big ruckus started. Luckily my Honey was home and went over and caught this fine ratsnake. He was on his way up the trellis to the babies.

The parents were having a fit but let hubby take over. This would have had a completely different outcome for the snake if he hadn't been home!
Snake is now in the trusty snakebox for transit to YOUR HOUSE.

Babies this morning are in fine fettle. They lack only a few days until fledging.

Hubby found this today where the snake must have shed just prior to "menacing" the bluejays.

A happy ending for ALL. Smile

Ooohhh, ick. Glad your hubby caught it in time. We have little garden snakes from time to time but nothing that large thank goodness.

Glad to see that all is well for all the players. Smile

You can send the ratsnake here, Bethie. Very Happy
We see one occasionally, but I haven't seen one that size for years.

Zuzu, I would happily send him. The first year we lived here we saw 1 snake. it was very barren here. But plant it and they will come. I see a dozen ratsnakes a summer with many six footers. Also watersnakes, garter snakes by the dozens, greensnakes, ribbonsnakes, kingsnakes and black racers. It is snake paradise here but luckily no poisonous ones so far. Smile

Oh dear the live of a bird is perilous it seems. Good thing your hubby was home to catch the sneaky character else the topic had a different subject Sad

Nice to see Zeb keeping a keen eye on the snakebox too.
