Wow it felt like I just started the April gardening tasks topic yesterday, April flew by 
It's getting warmer and warmer as we inch one month closer to summer. But nevertheless we are still very much in spring. What are your gardening tasks for the month of May?

Now that the trees are leafed out we can see which limbs are creating too much shade where it is not wanted so we will be doing a lot of trimming back...starting this evening. I am still working on the long neglected north side of the back yard, many of my seedlings are going in that area but it isn't ready yet.
And I noticed this morning that the top half of the Chinaberry tree on the south side of the house is dead, that means calling in a professional tree trimming service.
This is the time of year that I will have to start changing my gardening times around. The back garden is on the east side of the house which means too much sun for me, so I can start working on the front yard which is in shade until nearly noon and go to the backyard in the early evenings.

Hi, Frank & Stewbies;
I'm running about three months behind schedule for my zone (9A), plus having some trouble finding areas on the property to make a garden plot. There are always problems of one kind or another (for every one, I'm sure), but I'm very thankful to be here and have some energy to address the problems. As most of you probably know, it makes the flower or shrub all the more beautiful and the veggie or fruit all the more tasty to reflect on the problems that were overcome to get it here............. Hank

Well May started with a big job, digging up the front yards bushes , so after the dirt settles down , i'll be looking at planting new things there , maybe even a structure attached to the house. The roses are doing wonderful , and more veggies still need planting.

The weather here is finally starting to warm up, but it is still cold at night. I'm still waiting for leaves to open on the trees, except for my Lilac's that are all starting to open and they are LOADED with flower buds! I will be doing a lot of weeding, a little thinning of perennials, rototilling (this weekend I hope if it's dry enough!), starting to plant a few early veggies and spreading around some compost. Near the end of the month I will begin planting annuals

Still trying to get everything planted before it gets too hot, already having to water, but we did get rain today. Weeding, weeding, and more weeding, and mulching.

I've got to get all of my seedlings into the ground and resist the urge to plant more seeds! Either that or work on cleaning up the back yard so I have more gardening room..haha.
