|
As you may know, I am a very novice gardener. I am dying to plant my first garden, but is it too late in the season? Are there any types of flowers I can plant now? I'm in zone 7. (sorry if this is a dumb question)
Let me rephrase this.. what can i plant now that will still bloom this season. I'm greedy and don't want to have to wait till next year for blooms! any hope for me?

There are flowers that will grow and bloom in all four seasons, so you have plenty of time for a flower garden. Rosemary and Pansies being the first two that come to mind that grow in winter.
Most of the plants you have been seeing in garden centers since March are spring bloomers, you can still plant them now, they probably will not bloom again this year but will make nice green plants for the garden and bloom next spring.
Summer bloomers are beginning to show up in garden centers now. Salvias, Blackeyed Susan, Cosmos, Guara, lavenders, mints, Gladiolus, Canna, Sage and other herbs can be planted now. Most will bloom thru the hot summer and some into the fall.
Have fun and be sure to take pictures to show us.

Thank so much toni. I wrote everything down. I can't wait to get started. I am so excited to see if I can actually grow something!

Poo! It has been raining since yesterday afternoon. My hubby says grounds too wet to till, so I still have to wait!

I'm in a different zone, but marigolds bloom right away. Pansies are hardy pretty much everywhere.
