I have several large planters to fill and I'm looking for some new ideas. What has everyone got in their planters this year? Pictures too please!!

I have almost everything from common daisies to magnolias in planters Netty. What kind of plants do you prefer? I tend to go for things like bachelor's buttons, violas, pansies, polyanthus, ivy and nasturtiums or sweet peas, sweet william and wallflowers.

Im putting all my plants in containers (except the ones that are in the ground *lol*). Ive got roses, lilacs, holly, bittersweet, a mini tangerine tree, strawberries, lettuce, mixed salad greens, thyme and chives... and thats just the ones that are already planted *lol* Ive got more waiting for homes

I haven't planted any planters yet but have bought some sweet potato vine that will go in them. I also usually use some white alysum and then what ever catches my eye the day I am shopping for plants.

Your planters sound lovely Eileen. I use annuals for color for the entire season. I'm just getting tired of the same old stuff! Here's a few of mine from last year

Those look great Netty. I like the second one with the licorice vine in it. I have used that a few times myself.

I've got nasturtiums and a dwarf sunflower in my strawberry pot....no blooms yet but it is filling in. Also my hanging basket has a strange mixture of morning glories, calladiums, superbells, ivy, and moonflowers. No blooms on the vines yet. It's kind of an experiment...I forgot the calladiums were even in there!

wow, you are a real champ at container gardening, that looks like something from a big fancy garden show! I have some strawberries in tippy pots and violas in teapots. And anything else I can fit a viola into, mostly containers from garage sales & old pottery. I may only be 40, but I'm a hard-core granny gardener lol!

Lovely containers. I'm excited by this one but it's early days yet.
This is dark red coleus and then a burnt pink one with a pale pink penta. In the right back corner is a variegated trailing plant. The umbrella type leaves in front are a hot fuschia oxalis and a maroon leaved oxalis with pale pink flowers.

I planted my front porch pots with gazania, nasturiums, alyssum and a spike for height. Just planted them yesterday so will take a pic in a few days when they perk up a bit.
