I have a old un kept grapevine in my back yard, was told the it was kept up really nice then my house became a rental and the arbor was taken down and the vines were let to grow all over the ground. I think ive found the start of it but i cant get to it just yet havent made it that far (getting rid of 5ft weeds)can I save the vine? what should I add to the soil if so. from ohio

I will start by saying that I don't know a great deal
about refurbishing an older grapevine Confused
but I found this:
Quote:
An old neglected grape vine may be cut to the ground and a new trunk started from one of the new shoots. This will mean the sacrifice of a year’s crop but it is worthwhile.

and more at this site

and even more info here

I hope this helps a bit. Smile

You're so very welcome, Very Happy I'm glad I could help.
Sometimes it just takes another set of eyes looking, Wink

. . . you know, like when you lose your keys, Rolling Eyes
and you look everywhere, but they are just NOT in the house anywhere . . .
but then your hubby picks them up, from the tabletop under your very nose Shocked
and cruelly wags them in your face asking "you looking for these?"

. . . Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed not that this ever happened to me, just an example.
