This is the first year for this plant. My grandmother had one and always loved how they looked, each and everytime I see one of them I think about her and miss the time will spent in her flower gardens...Sad but happy memories...but a beautiful flower...Does anyone else have a flower that reminds them of a lost loved one?

Oh I love Bleeding Hearts .My mom loved Cape Jasmine's and Gardenias and
Zennias I have gardenias and Zennias and I love them as much as she did.

Passionflowers remind me of MY grandma...we lost her this year. She had them growing on her fence and I remember her telling me about them as a very young child.

I grow many plants that are sentimental to me in that way. 
In some cases, I'm lucky enough to have plants that are grown from cuttings
or divisions that actually belonged to my loved ones.
My mother's Orchids now live with my own in my glasshouse,
brought up from Florida after she died in 1993,
and my Fishtail Fern was dug from my grandmother's garden  over 20 years ago.
My Bleeding Heart plants were store bought, but like yours,
they fill my heart with memories. My grandfather grew
them in Pennsylvania when I was a child 
oooh my,  now that's really going a looong way back

I have named roses planted in my garden that remind me of lost family members and good friends. They always manage to bring a smile to my face when I think of the person I planted them for.

My grandma's flowers were amazing! She could grow the most gorgeous begonias. I did not inherit the begonia trait  Many things in my yard were bought because "Grandma had some just like it" I can't smell a lilac and not think of her. She even had a blouse that had lilacs on it My husband and I planted a lilac bush at the cemetery for her on Memorial Day.

Beautiful flower and sentiment. Yes, I have a miniature rose I've had for thiry years.I got it at the first plant nursery I ever went to owned by Mr. Matson who came to be a good friend. Long gone now but the rose lives on. It's a beaut. I'm trying to get some cuttings started. Beautiful flowers, beautiful memories.
