Caught up in the moment.
Sitting here quietly, relaxing after a hot and sweaty day, with Deputy laying at my feet, groaning every once in a while, as he moves to find that most comfortable spot. A drink in my hand, and the smell of the stakes grilling over the charcoal fire. If I close my eyes and lean my head back and listen, I can hear the birds calling and answering each other. The sound of the breeze in the trees, once in a while the sound of one of the many chipmunks scurrying across the deck, hope-full of finding a peanut left there for him. The hypnotic sounds of the water lapping up onto the lake shore. Looking up at the deep blue of the sky, and the little clouds as they drift past, the trees swaying back and forth in the breeze, occasionally revealing a small swarm of dragon flies high up in the branches. If your lucky, one of the Eagles will fly past hunting for his next meal, and if your really lucky, he will be close enough to hear those mighty wings beating at the air as he flies past. Ooopps, I was lost in the moment, it's time to turn the stakes. “Lie still Deputy, I'll be right back”. “And leave my drink alone”
Tom

Very well written Tom, I had no problem mentally seeing myself enjoying that moment too. I just love the lake views you have up there.

What a wonderful picture you painted in our minds Tom. With a view like yours I'd find it hard to tear myself away. Hope you didn't burn those steaks!!

That just sounds wonderful. It's great to know a fellow gardener is enjoying his little piece of paradise. Pat the pup on the head for me.

Your right Frank, it goes back to your posting, and my answer, about being lucky. Countless little changes in the past and all would be differant now. I feel very lucky, and thankfull.
