In March, we bought a bare root apple tree. It had no leaves on it, and no leaf buds.
And here we are in June, and it looks exactly the same. Is it possibly dead? Or do they take a long time to get going? I have fertilized it recently, and I keep it watered. But nothing is happening.
Any ideas?

Hi there Melissa. Here's a tip on how to find out if your tree is dead or not. Snip one of the twigs off and if it's green or white inside then your tree is still alive. However, if it snaps easily and is brown ot hollow inside then I'm afraid your tree is dead. Sad

Well, I snapped a piece of the twig off last night and sadly, it's dead. So, I pulled it out.
The garden center we got it at has a policy if a plant dies, return it and get a new one. So, if I still have the reciept, it won't be a total loss. And we'll know how to plant a new one better.
